The Great Shake Out

On Thursday this week, CKMS participated in The Great Washington Shake Out. All around the state, business, schools, and individuals practiced drop, cover, and hold, evacuating, and then checking on supplies and plans. At 9:05 on Thursday, our staff and students did just this. Our students and staff got under desks, evacuated, and then staff performed safety checks of the building and even carried out a fellow teacher to practice search and rescue. Our plan is solid and worked well, what’s your plan? If an earthquake or some other disaster happened during the school day, do you know who would come to the school to pick up your child? Do your kids have important phone numbers and their home address memorized? Talk to your kid about your emergency plan. Who is the emergency contact they could go home with? Where do you all plan on meeting? This would be a great family conversation this week given the state wide effort.

Enjoy your conversations! And, as always, we’re here if you have questions or concerns. David Keller (360)662-2344; Morgan Collins (360)662-2343; and Linda Roberts, Counseling Secretary, (360)662-2340.
