Teacher Appreciation and Test Anxiety

This week was Teacher Appreciation Week! Ask your children about their favorite CKMS teacher. Ask them what makes that teacher a rock star. How does he or she show the teacher appreciation? What is the hardest thing about being a teacher? What about the teachers your student doesn’t jive with? Can your child identify some strengths in that teacher? Chat through the benefit of working with a teacher who does things differently than the way the student likes. We are blessed at CKMS to have amazing teachers who care so much for our kids.

Additionally, as many of you know, Smarter Balanced testing starts next week. We’ve been practicing these tests and working hard to prepare our Cubs, but your child may still be worried or stressed about these tests. Mrs. Collins went into a few 6th grade classes this week to teach students some test anxiety coping strategies. Check out this amazing resource to talk with your learner about ways to stay calm and rock the test!

Enjoy your conversations! And, as always, we’re here if you have questions or concerns. David Keller (360)662-2344; Morgan Collins (360)662-2343; and Linda Roberts, Counseling Secretary, (360)662-2340.
